I had the opportunity to photograph this Hygge inspired, 944 sf, Micro-Loft / Cabin located in the heart of the Laurentian forest, in Quebec. hintercabin was designed in 2018 by owners, Mauricio and Emily along side Quebec based Developer Bonneville. This two bedroom, one bath cabin boasts about it’s smart technology integration, fast wifi, keypad entry, sonos speakers which simplify the way you interact with the space. Because of this you have time to enjoy the private lake access via their custom made canoe or should you choose to cozy up by their Stuv Fireplace instead, that and the wood needed to keep things cozy is available to you. The cabin is conveniently located a 15-minute drive from Tremblant, and an hour from Montreal.
This Scandinavian designed space is meant for spending time with friends, loved ones and most importantly yourself. It’s a space to come together to entertain, the kitchen often being the heart of a home welcomes laughter, love, joy and creativity. The living room that overlooks the lake and forest outside sets the pace for your stay, the stillness of the nature allows you to slow down, and cozy up by the fire with that book you've been meaning to read for ages. Every corner of the house is not only clean, but also worth exploring! You'll find personalized touches in every vignette, from the stack of well curated adventure books, to lovely smelling, locally made candles. Your tactile experience is heightened by the variety of materials and textures throughout the space. Cosy area rugs beneath your feet, soft to the touch countertops, and comfortable bedding gives you the excuse to stay in bed to enjoy that five more minutes of warth..
I can honestly say that it was a breath of fresh air to my creative soul. The transition from the hustle and bustle of city life to the calmness of nature gave this trip a authentic purpose, confirming all of the reasons as to why “I needed a break” I’ve talked about this topic before on the blog about taking time to recalibrate, and getting out into nature for yourself. As you know, I need to connect with nature often, not just for exploration aspect but to fuel my soul too. For me, the indoor to outdoor relationship is important when choosing a space for this type of recalibration. hintercabin was an intentional build, the respect for nature and it’s surroundings were minimally impacted which is very important to me and should be to you also!
The idea is to go back to our roots. To bond with the raw elements of the outdoors. Architecture must dance to the same tune, where comfort is at its highest level and we are one with nature - hintercabin
The architecture offers this with large floor to ceiling windows and sliding glass doors that you can open and close to your liking, spilling out onto the patio in one continuous motion. You get to experience waking up with the warm sun peeking through the trees, greeted by the faint croaking of frogs who live around the property. There is nothing more nostalgic that waking up to something like that.
If you're needing a place to go to spark something in yourself, or to ease the stress of your busy life then I highly recommend spending a few days here. It’s important to make space in your life to take care of yourself, in ways that may mean making some tea and enjoying hintercabin to it's fullest.
We are so grateful for the hintercabin hosts Mauricio and Emily; communication with them was super friendly and easy, they made the stay worry free and exciting. They have done an amazing job creating a luxury experience that you very much deserve to enjoy for yourself. Knowing that I often am writing travel guides for you guys, they provided me with their local guide to the best of the best in the Mont Tremblant area! - Yes we ate the avocado on toast that they recommend from Charlotte Cafe, yes it was amazing! They also provided us with a two for one deal to sink into a deeper relaxation at Scandinave Spa Mont Tremblant. Take a couple hours out of your day to go experience the spa, you’ll get to enjoy a true nordic experience worthy of it’s own full blog post!
