residential interior design + renovation project.

tiina vahtola, designer of talo studios, reimagined this old historic brownstone in montreal’s westmount neighbourhood. through the design process their intention was to gave the space a new life, acting as one that the young family could grow into together. the owners wanted something that spoke to the timeless architectural details, while still functioning as a lived in, practical family-style setting.

by tailoring the custom millwork in the kitchen to meet the clients specific needs, talo studios was able to elevate and integrate a fresh new look into what once was a dated kitchen. Just opposite the kitchen is a dining nook, this durable seating was essential for this family, as it offered them moments of gathering as a family, and entertaining with friends.

the living space feels romantic, elegant, and looks to be a place you’d like to cozy up in. this space is one that speaks to a very inviting NARRATIVE. In order to achieve this look and feel, talo studios layered in beautiful textures and soft materials, while balancing the light and airy look with elements of nature and contrasting black details.
